A while back the talented whiplashes at Inside the Makeup Case tagged me in a 7 fun facts tag. It has taken me a while to get round to it but here they are:

All about the accessories ...

It really is! There is no better way to brighten up an outfit than to accessorize well. More often than not I will buy some basic plain tops and liven them up with a killer necklace, earrings or scarf.

Accessorising really can change the look of any outfit and if you do it well, it could save you plenty of $$ on fleeting trends. A couple of posts ago, I was going mad for theOutnet.com £1 birthday party sale and since there is only 1 item per guest, I really need to do my research and work out which items to aim for on the day! Remember, it is first come first served - so fingers on your mouse, ladies!

So of course, tonight I have been browsing on theOutnet.com like a mad woman scouring for my must have items and this is just some of the items I have my eye on!

* Sara Berman slouch bag -Summer is full of day trips and long walks so carrying a bag on my arm is just a hassle - a lovely slouch bag that slings round my body is the perfect solution - this one in Nude will suit most colour combos and the stud detailing gives it some va va voom!

* An oversized Scarf - for the chilly Summer breeze. I always invest in an oversized scarf, you can wear it so many ways and I just find them, well, so stylish. I love this Missoni one - everyone needs some Missoni in their life at some point - why not now when you could get it for £1!

* Statement jewellery like this necklace and cuff. The necklace is a beautiful flower pendant by Kara Ross and the cuff, ugh! The cuff is to die for ... it is Christian Lacroix no less and I think I am in love!

* Of course no outfit of mine would be complete without my face in place so Nars Penny Lane will be my big Summer blush and of course on trend pastel nails. Never did I think I would take to pastels but I have!

To get your invite to the £1 birthday party just make sure you RSVP by registering with theOutnet.com between now and April 11th. Click here to RSVP.

What are your must have accessories?

Hairspiration

My hair is at that horrible in between stage where it is neither short nor long. It's starting to flick out at the ends and look completely shapeless no matter how I try to style it - this is the pains of growing hair long.

For Summer, I would love long, sleek locks so that I can mess it up and braid it a la Conrad. Braids have been in for a while now but I am only just jumping on that bandwagon. When it comes to braids, Lauren does it best:

A more complicated version maybe?
I love Pixi's halo effect braid and beach waves

Our girl Lauren again with tousled hair and her trademark braid again
Considering vitamins to help my hair grow quicker ... any suggestions? Or will I just have to patiently sit it out?

Beaute Masochist

Someone left a comment on my previous post asking me to recommend a dark red lippie. It couldn't have come at a better time as I have been planning on posting about this product for ages so without further ado ...

A few months ago I purchased Beaute weightless lip creme in Masochist from Coco Beau website. I had seen this product on a couple of blogs and I fell completely in love with the colour.

Red lips can be hard to wear and is often difficult finding a shade that suits and isn't too bright. Bright lips also often means heavy lips, you can literally feel the product lying there.

Masochist is a beautiful deep blood red that is described as a Helmut Newton red. It virtually does feel weightless on the lips. I am tempted to say it is a one shade suits all kind of colour as this looks equally lovely whether I embrace the pale or fake tan. With regards longevity, what red lipstick doesn't need a mid-day touch up? Well, this is no different although I can drink and eat comfortably before I have to re-do.
It applies like a lipgloss, so it comes in a tube with a little sponge bud applicator. This is actually very nice for smoothing over the lips and gives a much more moisturising finish.
If you need further convincing of how gorgeous this colour is - check it out on Gossip Girls, Leighton Meester. She looks stunning. The contrast of the lips against the dress is so striking.
One downside of this product is the price. £22 for 3g so it is a fairly small tube although I guess it is the equivalent of a full lipstick. Still, it is a fairly new brand so it is a steep asking price. However, in saying that I will re-purchase this - quality, colour and the sheer beauty of this product will win over price everytime.

What are your recommendations for a dark red lippie?

Does anyone else love Masochist?

Party over here! - Happy Birthday TheOutnet.com!

April marks not only my birthday (hint, hint) but the birthday of theOutnet.com. For those unaware of this amazing site, well where have you been? It is the online outlet store of net-a-porter ... Designer labels for less, as they say - it's Chic-onomics!

To celebrate, theOutnet.com are throwing a once in a lifetime birthday party ... *drumroll please* for one day only on April 16th they will hold a sale with designer goodies available for £1! Bags, shoes, dresses = £1 *faints*

So what will you be wearing to the party?

Birthday Class
Personally, I would dress for cocktails. Think Audrey Hepburn with a rock chic twist. I love this Julie Haus silk black cocktail dress with red zipper and these Givenchy lace shoe boots - Audrey would love them! My obsession with skulls is still going strong, so this Thomas Wylde bag would accessorise along with chunky wrist adornments from Kenneth Jay Lane. Don't forget the red lippie! ;) - all of the above available at theOutnet.com

I am already counting down the days to April 16th - already stalking the online store and making note of what I hope to see in the sale! If you want to join in on the celebrations make sure you RSVP by clicking HERE and let theOutnet.com know you would be delighted to attend the party! Just remember to wear your dancing shoes!

However the fun doesn't stop there because one of the lucky party people will get the chance to win the 'Golden Ticket' *gasp* The Golden ticket winner will be able to preview the sale before anyone else and have the chance to pick an outfit consisting of 5 pieces with the help of an Outnet.com stylist - Fabulous Dahling! And remember it's £1 a pop, so that's £5 for your full outfit!! *faints again*

Right, I am off to RSVP ...

What will you be wearing on April 16th or indeed your own birthday? Share!

Cheek of the Week!

This weeks cheek is a new blush I purchased last week. I don't own many cream blushes so thought since Spring is on it's way (even though snow is lashing down outside my window right now!), it was about time to dabble in some cream blush investment.

I decided on Nars Penny Lane. It is such a lovely subtle pink with hints of peach and a slight mauve undertone. I imagine this is the kind of colour that will look very different on varied skin tones.
I apply this either with my finger tips or a Mac 109 brush. It leaves a lovely flush to my cheeks and works well whether I'm tan or pale. It reminds me of a nicer, richer, more pigmented and obviously cream version of Benefit Dandelion.

Anyone else tried Penny Lane?

What is your cheek of the week?

Weekend of fun ...

I realise the weekend is still a whole 4 days away but I happen to be going on a girly trip to Newcastle to visit one of my bessie mates!

I have a busy week ahead so it makes sense to have some idea of the weekend wardrobe to avoid packing too much and leaving the poor bugger in the backseat from sharing with a suitcase!

We have a night of drinks down the local planned then a day of shopping, cocktails and dancing! I think I finally have an idea of what I want to take with me but I am sure I will add a couple of contingency outfits for good measure.

So far this is the plan:

For a more casual look, I think i will opt for black skinny trousers, a loose ruffled t-shirt in 'oh-so-now' nude and flats/gladiators with my new and absolutely lush French Connection pied piper bag! For later, I will change into another nude top but this time blinging it up in sequins, heels and a black blazer to dress it down a bit.

Our big Saturday night out calls for a dress I feel ... so a royal blue ruffled dress similar to this is what I have in mind at the moment. I will team with a vintage black belt and stud mesh shoes and a leather and chain headband.

Of course, Geordie's are infamous for going out in sub zero temperatures without a coat or jacket but sorry guys, I'm gonna lose out on cool points here but I just can't do it! I'll be the one walking 5 steps behind with a big puffa jacket on :s!!

Anyone else have weekend plans already? What will you be wearing?
