Blingy Leather Nails

Who can resist sparkle this time of year?  Nails, make up, a dress... it never feels quite right without a bit of glitter or sequins, anything otherwise is positively bland and dare I say it a little scrooge-esque. 

Or is that just me? 

Probably. 

Anyway, with this spangly obsession in mind, I present to you this weeks nails.  I like deep, dark, intense colours in the winter so black ticks all those boxes.  I used China Glaze Liquid Leather.  They didn't scream 'FESTIVE' enough for me so I decided to add a bit of bling on the tips the simplest way I knew how, with a glitter polish.  I used a Kiko sparkly polish - unsure of the name I'm afraid but dabbing it on helped the chunkier glitter particles stick to the nail tip better offering up a dazzling set of digits. 

Speaking of Kiko, I am so pleased to hear it has hit the UK, in Westfield to be exact.  Still a bit too far for me but hopefully it means it will start to spread through the country and up to Scottish lands before long!  It's such a reasonably priced cosmetic brand with some fabulous blushers on offer among other things.

China Glaze Pure Torture

This was a notd from a few weeks back. I have a feeling I may have posted this shade before but I love it.

It's China Glaze in Pure Torture ... a bloody orange based red that reflects its name well. I wore this on a night to Edinburgh to see a burlesque show ... the colour certainly was befitting of the burlesque scene.

This is it with just one coat but the colour pay off is great and it lasted me a week without chipping which is fantastic for me when I am having a lazy week!

I bought this in Sally's for just under a fiver.

Updated NOTD - China Glaze Liquid Leather

Well, the GOSH Black Passion was on for less than 24 hours and I just couldn't live with it. It's just too much of a grey shade for me albeit a much more sophisticated grey for nails. It just wasn't me so decided to re-do the nails this morning.
I decided to opt for a full on black this time in the form of China Glaze Liquid Leather. This is my favourite black polish - not that they vary too greatly in terms of shade or colouration but i like the glossy finish of this.
I do love black nails, gothic yet tasteful.

NOTD - No pain no gain!!

I realise that Nail of the day posts do get boring however I have to admit the main purpose for me posting this is to show off my new nails!

I actually went through a bit of pain to get these nails ... I hadn't planned on getting them done but I had some time to spare on Friday so thought I would get an impromptu manicure. I opted for acrylics thanks to the advice of some of the lovely girls on twitter as I knew I would want to paint them afterwards.

Anyway, the girl doing my nails managed to cut me twice while drilling my nails (drilling i understand is frowned upon). I bled. Not badly but still, you know, that's not what i paid for!! I ended up not complaining as being the sucker I am, I got on so well with the owner of the shop I just didn't have the heart to!

When i got home, I actually had to file the nails down again and shape them as she had left them very square and long.
The french manicure look also looked a little bit cheap on my hands. I have such tiny and hands and nails that I couldn't pull it off very well with acrylics. So, on the nail polish went. I chose Lavender Lingo by China Glaze - a lovely opaque pale pink/lilac. I have worn this on my natural nails and it really doesn't look as good as it does on a fake yet beautifully shaped nail.

What do you think of my new nails? Should i keep them?

China Glaze 3 for 2 at Sallys!

I am having an uber busy and exhausting week this week but thought I would do a really quick post to let you know about this deal at Sally's.

I was just passing Sally's on the way home from work and of course was lured in by hair extensions and the smell of ammonia! I originally only picked up 2 of these polishes but when I went to pay the assistant told me to pick another for free - I had missed the humungous, slap right in front of you sign with the deal details on the display! duurgh! China Glaze are £5.49 each so just over £10 for 3 polishes with this deal.So here are the colours I chose, from left to right: purple panic (neon), pure torture and lavender lingo.

Purple panic is such an amazingly vibrant purplish pink - it is labelled as neon but it is a gorgeous shade on the nails that is still very wearable.
Pure torture is a vibrant tomato red. I usually avoid reds in the Summer, but this is a perfect Summer red for me.
Lavender Lingo - is a lovely pink shade with lilac undertone. I have yet to try this but think this may need a few coats before i see the true colour.

NOTD - China Glaze

Yesterday I popped out to Sallys for some hair care products and came back with 2 new China Glaze nail lacquers.
I picked a navy colour called 'Up all night' and a tropical pink shade in 'Mediterranean Charm'. I had forgotten how much I like China Glaze, the colour payoff is fantastic. Here I am wearing Mediterranean Charm. I have only had it on 24 hours and no chipping so far however I am yet to really judge the lifespan of it. This is with only one coat - perfect for a lazy self manicurist like myself.
To be honest, my nails are a big hot mess just now. Very weak, break constantly and with lots of ridges, hence why my nails are so short at the moment. If anyone has any advice on how to help keep them healthy and repair them, let me know
