Eyeko Fat Balm

Yesterday I was completely inspired by the lovely Oxford Jasmine who had tweeted a photo of herself wearing Eyeko's recently relaunched Fat balm on her lips and cheeks.

Lucky for me, that morning some samples had arrived in the post from Eyeko so I wanted to copy Jasmine's gorgeous look.

I received a fat balm in Toffee (rrp £6) which is a lovely warm caramel nude. I also received a London Lips gloss in Mayfair (rrp £6.50) which I believe to be limited edition and is the perfect companion for Toffee fatbalm.

Fat balms have been relaunched with SPF15 and contain jojoba oil for moisture and a fuller, softer lip and just pigmented enough to add a hint of colour and shine.

I patted the fatbalm straight from the tube onto my lips and cheeks. The fat balm gives your cheeks a lovely glow that eliminates the need for a highlighter. It isn't too sticky but I did get a couple of hairy face moments when my hair needed sweeping out of the area with the fat balm applied ... nothing that wasn't easily rectified though. The shade toffee is particularly lovely, it is a very natural looking colour that gives a warm flush to your cheeks. Lovely for winter and a fantastic product for a minimal hassle free make up kit.
This was my first ever experience with a Fat balm and I have to say it felt really lovely on. On your lips it felt hydrating and can certainly be worn on it's own but as I love my gloss I teamed it with london lips in Mayfair.
Mayfair is just like toffee fb but in lipgloss form. It isn't too sticky and smells delicious giving a lovely plump shine.

The fat balm lasted all day on my cheeks while the lipgloss lasted a good while on the lips before needing a re-application for full on gloss again. Even when the shine had disappeared there was still a lovely hint of caramel colour on the lips so that it wasn't necessarily vital to re-apply.

I really think Eyeko products are worth a look, they are fantastic value for money and the products are of great quality. When I tweeted Jasmine about my copy cat look yesterday, she even claimed that she thought the fat balm was better than Bobbi Brown's pot rouge which is quite something. I haven't tried the BB pot rouge so can't comment personally but it certainly food for thought when you think of the price difference and the reputation of such a high end brand as Bobbi Brown.

Matching my cuticles with my cuffs

I was asked twice this week if my nail colour was the infamous Particuliere by Chanel but in fact it was a far humbler and much less expensive dupe in the form of Barry M's Mushroom.

I initially dismissed this colour thinking it was too similar to Eyeko's posh polish but Barry Ms version is slighty darker and is almost like for like with Chanel Particuliere. Can't help feeling smug about that one ;)

Anyway, here it is as I wore it this week ... shoddily applied, yes, but notice how it's a perfect match for my favourite leather jacket? And the choice wasn't even deliberate, I only noticed while I sat waiting on my train to work. Neat.

This has been on nearly a full week and has only just started to chip ... and remember I have no dishwasher and don't wear rubber gloves so that's a mean feat to hold up with being dunked in and out of water every night.

I think Barry M polishes are around the £3-4 mark and I do believe they are on 3 for 2 at Superdrug at the moment ... so get your hands on it - it's a winner!

NOTD - Rain Polish

Eyeko's latest offering of nail polish comes in the form of a limited edition.

Rain polish is a cute duck egg blue that only requires 2 coats for full opaqueness but heck, you could probably get away with just one.

I find it a more mature option on the blue front. I sometimes feel a little child like with blue on my nails but this is a sophistcated alternative.

I have to say after one day it has chipped lightly but not enough to merit a re-paint.

Eyeko Posh Polish

I know you are all probably fed up of seeing Eyeko plastered all over the blogosphere at the moment but I believe their new colours are really worth showing off, however, I will keep this quick.

I expected to hate this particular colour having been described as similar to OPI You don't know Jacques and the infamous Chanel Particuliere. In my mind, 'greige' isn't a colour I thought would suit my skintone or look remotely attractive. Well, I eat my words, cos I love it!Only 2 coats were required for an opaque finish and after 3 or 4 days there is still little chipping or tip wear which I find amazing.

What do you think of the greige phenomenon?

Eyeko Nude Nail Polish

I was sent a collection of pastel nail polishes from Eyeko a few weeks ago and I am just getting round to trying them out.

I opted to try the Nude nail polish first. They say that Nude shoes help to lengthen the appearance of legs so I was hoping this would do the same for my podgy little fingers.Well, I am not so sure it lenthened the appearance of my hands and at first it did make them look like death but with a little bit of fake tan they started to look quite pretty.

I would say this shade appears more peachy than I expected but I guess nudes are always going to be peach or pink toned in some way or other. This is the polish after 3 coats but another coat would have perfected the look.
Without at least 3 coats, you can see obvious streaks and the drying time is slightly longer than my normal polishes.

It's definitely not a shade for pale skintones but with the hint of a summer glow this is much lovelier than I would have imagined. This will definitely be in my summer nail wardrobe ;)

Anyone else like nude nails?

Big Eyes - Eyeko Mascara

I had heard about this mascara a while ago but had never thought to try it out myself. As it goes I try and steer clear of drugstore mascaras but I am slowly changing my mind about them.

Eyeko actually sent this to me to try out as I am still fairly new to the brand.

Eyeko claim this mascara will give you long & luscious lashes in 1 easy squeeze. Hence the silver tube packaging - much like a toothpaste tube. It's formula combining natural oils and silicones with added Panthenol (Vitamin B) and is designed to prevent dryness, premature breakage and to promote lash growth. The brush has widely dispersed bristles for evenly coated perfectly separated long lashes.
The tube you will agree is very cute and I love the manga girl with her gorgeous big eyes and lashes.
The wand is quite narrow and the bristles are widely dispersed. I find the wand a little stiff and because of it's shape seems a little difficult to manoeuvre round my lashes. I have to agree with eyeko though, this mascara does create long, luscious looking lashes. I was pleasantly surprised with the pigmentation and how dark my lashes were after one coat. It certainly made my lashes appear longer and thicker which I was pleased about.

As for preventing dryness, by the end of the day my lashes feel a little heavy and caked but this could be a result of my own over application. The other downside to this mascara is the wand for me ... I can't seem to avoid getting the product all over my eyelids so I get a messy finish.

Overall, I really like this mascara and would recommend it - I will certainly getting my use out of it but will need to keep the cotton buds at the ready to clean up the overspill. On the eyeko website it retails at £8. You can also find Eyeko at Superdrug in the UK.

NOTD: Eyeko Hot! Hot! Hot! Red nail polish

I bought this nail polish aagggeees ago and only got round to trying it out a couple of weeks ago.

I am actually really surprised by this polish as I think it only cost me a couple of quid ... cheap as chips! The texture was so smooth and the consistency was lovely and thick so only 2 coats were needed but still looked okay with just one!

The colour is lush, it's like a blood red with that 50's pin up vibe. I have to say the lasting power is pretty good... It got me through a weekend of moving house and plenty of broken nails ... obviously it did chip but not as much as I thought it would.

I think I will definitely try some more eyeko polishes.

Anyone else tried them, what did you think?

... and some other bits & bobs

While I was picking up my new Girls Aloud lashes today, I remembered I needed some more Rimmel Sunshimmer. I love this. I think I have been wearing it since I was about 17 or 18 and usually use it to top up a tan or add some quick colour. While I was browsing I noticed 'Sunshimmer Shimmering Maxi Bronzer' in shade 002 Sun Love. You will all probably know that I am loyal to my Nars Laguna but I thought I would try this out as a top up to my laguna or even to add some shimmer to my body when tanned.
I would say the colour of this bronzer is strikingly similar to Laguna but has waves of textured gold shimmer throughout. I really thought this would look quite glittery on the face but instead it has given a lovely radiant sunkissed effect and to me, does not look glittery at all, just a subtle shimmer. I will be able to update better when I have worn this a few times but so far I think its great and definitely much better than i expected it to be. Its not going to replace my Laguna but will hopefully complement it. Pretty cheap too, think it was under £5 if i remember correctly.

I also spotted this little Eyeko product. It was the leopard print that attracted me to it, haha, love my animal prints! Its the 'Sexy Eyes' 5 in 1 eyeshadow cake.
To be honest, once I got it home and tried it out, I did regret buying. The pigmentation is terrible and when you do manage to build up a bit of colour with it, it seems to be very cakey. I am notoriously bad at taking decent swatch photos so haven't included any, but needless to say the pigmentation made it a little bit too hard to even catch any colour at all in a photo.

I also bought the new Rimmel mascara 'glam'eyes Lash flirt volume & lift mascara'. Yes, i know I said I would never buy another drugstore mascara after hating sexy eyes but what can I say? I just can't help spending money ... even when I don't have it!!! Anyway, I have tried this out already and will hopefully get a review of it up over the weekend.
