St Moriz Self Tan

This week I got a phone call from my sister's daughter in law, Cherie .... she told me she had found her holy grail fake tan. This excited me a lot! Just to put you in the picture, Cherie has the palest skin and red hair so very similar colouring to myself. Obviously I had to go try what she was using.

It turns out it was St Moriz self tanning mousse which I have already heard a few people rave about. I bought it from Semi Chem for £2.99!!! wow! I would never buy a tan this cheap unless recommended ... the snob in me would assume it was rubbish. tut tut Sask!
Optimistically, I bought 4 of these as I trust Cherie's judgement on all things fake tan. I applied this 2 nights ago for the first time. I applied just before going to bed but I was in a bit of rush with it as I was so tired.

First off, I would say the application process is pretty easy ... it's a mousse with colour guide. Pretty much the same as St Tropez and Fake Bake mousse. I always think its best to work a mousse in quickly as the tanning process starts immediately. The smell of this tan is almost soap like which makes a change from the soggy biscuit aroma I usually go to bed sporting! I missed out on the buffing stage, I was too tired and couldn't be bothered. I think to achieve a smooth tan I would definitely recommend this if using a mousse but it's not always necessary. The whole performance was finished in about 5-10 minutes.

Next morning, I woke up to a slightly more biscuity smell but it wasn't overwhelming. The results of the tan were amazing though. I did have some streaks and missed areas but this was purely down to my rushed effort. The colour was brown. Not orangey-brown - just brown. It looked like a real tan. Impressive! I can't believe the quality of product versus price ratio.

Next time, I may apply some moisturiser before applying to see how the results differ. I never moisturise beforehand as it can affect the colour but this tan is quite dark so I am sure it would be fine. I will also buff next time and take much more care so to avoid missing bits and streaking. I have yet to judge the longevity of the product but I am sure it will stand up to it's more expensive counterparts. Will keep you posted though.

In Scotland and Northern Ireland, you can buy this in Semi Chem for £2.99. So far in England, I only know of 2 places, Boyes and Home Bargains where you can purchase. They also sell on ebay for £7.99 so hold off until you find it cheaper. There is also a website I found called Sandy's cosmetics who sell it. If anyone tries this, let me know what you think or if you have tried it already - do you like it too?

xx

  7. @make_up_me thanks for letting me know, didn't realise you got it there too x

@Jen I think it does only come in one shade, certainly only one is sold at semi chem anyway. It is darker than normal fake tan but somehow still looks more natural?! x

  8. Sounds good - I have aquestion though! What is the buffing stage? I am a f*ckwit when in comes to fake tan... never use it but I'm developing an interest in light of wanting to wear dresses without causing accidents due to the glare from my legs...

  9. @mizzworthy lol ... hmm yeah you've just described my legs without fake tan ha! Ok buffing its not always necessary and i can bet you hardly anyone does it ... its basically when you get a mit and lightly buff over any streaky bits to even it all out. most of the time its not needed as tan these days can be applied and look streaky but will wash off evenly next day. I just made such a mess of it this time I might add in the buffing stage nxt time just to be extra careful over it xx

  11. Totally agree with you, this stuff is great. I bought it last week just because it was so cheap and kind of assumed it was going to be terrible but from the first squirt I was really impressed! I bought a £30 bottle of st tropez about 2 days before I got this and I haven't even opened it yet!

  16. do you put the tan on with your hands then buff? or use gloves, im fed up with orange hands!! x

  17. @Anonymous, definitely apply with gloves. I'm afraid I don't know of any other websites but if i do come across any I will post details of it x

  18. I am using this at the moment, always happy with the results but would definitely recommend using gloves. End result much more satisfying when used with gloves, also avoids brown grungey looking hands! Longevity also quite surprising, without re-applying would last 3-4 days but when reapplying every day or every couple of days, lasts perfectly without streaking or becoming uneven and patchy looking. Would definitely mark this 9 out of 10! Nicole.

  20. You can also buy from TJ Hughes website at £2.99. Best to use self tan mitt to apply fake tan. I have been fake tanning for years and the mitt is definately the best way to do it. you can buy these mitts from boots and superdrug. Am waiting on my delivery now and can't wait to be a convert from St Tropez... It'll take some beating but I'm optimistic.

  21. how can someone living in ireland buy if from tj hughes, the website seems not to accept orders from ireland cuz we dont have a postcode... its really frustrating cuz i want this tan!!

  27. My friend also recommended this to me, so glad she did! It's the best tan I've used so far. Gives a good colour, not as dark as fake bake but I hate going to bed feeling tacky! This dried in instantly and didn't smell too bad.Like mentioned above, it isn't orangey at all! So easy to apply too, I use a tanning mit which works well.I normally go over my first coat and put a light coat on my face to give a nice glow. Definitely recommend this :)

  29. IT IS AMAZING. well, not quite but for 2.99 yes please sir! you can buy on the semi chem website :) xx

  30. Hi i have used this you have to be carefull with feet & hand gloves are a necessity also one thing i will say is that you cant apply it to your face so you are left with having to find an alternative for your face & you end up looking a bit silly. Apparantly it brings out a rash if used on face as your skin needs a different format.

    ReplyDelete
  39. hiya i use this brand and so do my 3 daughters, when showering dont use sponge etc instead justuse shower gel on your hands to wash or in my case i use bubble bath as a shower gel does same job and comes in bigger bottle, just a money saving tip, ive done this for years...
