I'm sorry, I realise this must be getting boring seeing a pic of Lily pop up every few posts but this time I don't know if it's my obsession with Lily or my obsession with Chanel that has prompted the post! Probably both.
Lily was modelling the new Cocoon collection for Chanel. Apparantly Karl Lagerfield snapped these photos himself ... anyway, the padded bag in any form is one of my favourite styles. I don't have a Chanel yet but I do have a Marc Jacobs and Balenciaga Matelasse bags so I am getting there - slowly but surely.... one day, one day!
This image screams Audrey in Breakfast at Tiffany's - one of my favourite films! I'd love this bag but I can imagine the horrendous copies we are going to see on the high street already!
As per usual Lily looks fabulous!
x
Fab! <3 that bag xx
ReplyDeleteShe looks amazing. Are you booking tickets for Coco Before Chanel? I'm organising an after work outing to the UGC (refuse to call it Cineworld).
ReplyDeleteI love Lily - she is awesome. i want to do her makeup one day :)
ReplyDelete@LionLovingTiger I hadn't even thought about booking it but now you've mentioned it I might just do that ... I wonder if the Grosvener will show it .. not comfy but I always feel so 'arty' going there lol - ssaaaadd! xx
ReplyDelete@Sian Lidgate Ah you would be fab doing her make up i'm sure! You will need to teach me how to do the accent above the 'a' in Sian! I never remember how to do accents on the keyboard xx
Love it but ur right about the fake invasion! the rest of your outfit would need to be immaculately stylish or everyone would assume its a fake- just like those nasty bright pink quilted totes with the giant cc!! shudddder xxxx
ReplyDeleteTo be honest I am not a Lily fan and I really can't believe someone like her has been given the chance to do a Chanel campaign. It goes against everything that Chanel is about..I never thought Chanel could look tacky but lily allens ads do exactly that. Its just opinion x
ReplyDelete@Lily Thanks for your comment, I do understand where you are coming from with Lily Allen as she has not always been known for being the most sophisticated or elegant of celebrities!
ReplyDeleteHowever, I don't believe that it goes against what Chanel is about instead i think it goes against what people believe Chanel is about. Most people view Chanel as the epitome of sophistication which yes it is but if you look at how the brand came about, Coco Chanel was a forward thinker. She totally changed the way women dressed and back in those days that would have been a tough market to crack... she heralded the masculine suit for women, something that was unheard of.
Lily Allen represents a 'real' female figure, she is not the most naturally beautiful or elegant and sometimes is a little mouthy but I think she is the kind of character Coco would have liked - a lot! Like Coco she doesn't follow the crowd and in choosing her Karl Lagerfield has been a little controversial but nonetheless genius - in my opinion!
xx
Fab post, i love that bag soo much, one day i will own a Chanel, i'd love to have one and to be able to pass it on to my nieces(or daughter) in the future x
ReplyDelete@Em x yes i feel the same too - would love a Chanel to pass down to daughter/niece! x
ReplyDeleteI love Lily, and love Chanel - that photo is lovely. Btw .. saw Coco before Chanel today, it's really good, would recommend seeing it. Audrey Tatou is really good.
ReplyDelete@Lolly I am dying to see it ...glad you enjoyed it!! xx
ReplyDeleteI didn't even think about the copies that would come about as a result of this. Hopefully it will not be too bad here in Australia!
ReplyDeleteI love Lily and Chanel so this is a match made in fashion heaven to me :)
I also agree with what you said in reply to Lily above, well put and I could not have said it better myself!!
omg! i have to admit that i never really cared for chanel but now that lily is modeling for them, i payed more attention to their merch and I'm in love!!!
